How to Double Your Blog Traffic Month Over Month (BONUS: Blogging Boost Printable)

When we started our blogging journeys (first apart, and then together), we knew some of what we should be doing, but we were honestly pretty much non-bloggers who had never really read blogs before. We were as new as they come. That being said, we knew how to market and we already understood the social media game. From past experience, it was blatantly obvious that if we didn’t offer new reasons for people to come to our websites, they would sit still and stagnant.

Now, a great day for us is having around 750+ visitors. As you grow, your expectations change. In Abagail’s first 3 months of blogging, she was able to double her blog traffic month over month, which is pretty amazing for a newbie. We can’t guarantee that her methods will work for everyone, but here is what we’ve done to grow our individual blogs, and then Think Creative Collective, into the go-to web home of successful entrepreneurs!

Quality + Quantity

We are generally the “go big or go home” type of people.  But follow through beyond a week or two for can be hard for us - hence diets failing, workouts petering out, et cetera. Running TCC as partners is also much easier as we can work together and keep each other accountable. We knew that with blogging, if we committed we had to keep going. And seeing the results has definitely made it worth it! OUR READERS ROCK!

At first, we decided to write 5 blog posts a week. Not just a couple hundred words a day, but quality content. Generally, when we type our posts up in MS Word, they average 2 to 5 pages, single-spaced.

As you build up your library of content you will notice that readers don’t always land on the current stage in your journey. They might end up reading a post that is months old. Make this benefit you! You may reach a point, which we believe we have, where you are adding so much new content that readers can no longer keep up. This does not mean we are any less engaged or that we lower the quality, but we have decided over some time, to start posting slightly less

Planning & Analysis

As we continued to roll out new content week after week, we carefully assess what is working and what isn’t. We use Google Analytics and the built in Squarespace Analytics to see which posts are the most popular and where people linger the longest.

We have methods to brainstorm new content, and pose questions to ourselves and our readers. We’ve done reader surveys and have also polled our newsletter subscribers.

Here are a few of our favorite posts to help you plan & analyze:

Social Media

Being present online has been a major part of our success. Both for growing and engaging our audience, and also reinventing how we utilize the platform. You will find us present daily on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.

Stay Organized

There is no way that we could have grown at the rate or pace we have without staying organized. Knowing when we are going to post, the topic, the outline and all the components needed ahead of time is essential, especially now that there are two of us working together.

Here are some tips on keeping it all together:

Your Free Trello Board

At Think Creative Collective we want to continue to help you grow and reach your potential. We want to see you succeed and be proud of how far you have come. We want you to go after a life and a business that you love.

And because we just love our readers and want to encourage them (that's you!) we have created a Trello board that is perfect for keeping your business and life on track. You can use it to keep track of both your personal or business goals. And assess the results every week. See if it helps you stay on task. See if there is new growth. Use it to see what is and isn’t working. Get your free Trello board here!
